A Little Character Guide

While God Modding is also a bad part of Sonic World's RP, Characters are also bad. Some have confusing backgrounds that make no sense, or overpowered abilities. So allow me (and Speedy, I think) to give you guys a little guide on Character Design.

Backgrounds

This is by far the worst problem of them all. A good example of a bad background is having a villain kill your characters parents/town for no reason (I see this a lot). And to add to the previous example, I shall also note that it's pretty damn generic to have some "demon" do that as well. Another horrible background element is memory loss, another common trait seen in Sonic Fan Characters. Honestly, your character can have memory loss without losing their name and everything (I commonly refer to this as "Shadow Syndrome"). That about covers the background elements, and if Speedy would like to add to this, go for it.

Abilities/Powers

Another bad element. Most people don't even have an explanation for why their character has powers (And that's just lazy). And if they do have an explanation, it's normally bogus, and unoriginal. I mean how long does it take to come up with a decent explanation for your character's abilities?

Unoriginality

Screw backgrounds being the worst thing, THIS is. Most people just make their character from some Anime or something. Which brings us to the thing haunting most people today, creativity. Actually, why bother making some Sonic Fan Character when you can come up with your own idea? Because the lack of creativity causes you to create a fan character. Okay....I went a bit far there but still. Come on people, really?

I plan to make a topic about this(which a much longer post, by the way.) and one for a Roleplaying guide.

I wanted to make a guide myself, but I've been a bit too busy to do it.

Now, I've been already working on my characters to try and get them back up to standards. I pretty much have everything in order now, but back in the day, I was just as bad as most of the people here.

Well, it's only supposed to be a tiny guide, anyway. Its not like he was trying to write a big guide that tells you everything. And also, I believe you've been told about this before, actually. If you're going to say something is bad, please say why.

I would have to agree with this guide. My character's background is original and I tell how he gets his abilities.

Exactly. Also, never tell anyone how to come up with characters. NOOBZ will find out sooner or later that the character they have makes it a F'd up experience for everyone. My character is a god, but not anymore.

my character is up to shape.=D but about the villian part in razors background is kinda ship shaped a little bit. Heres a part from Razor the Hedgehog:the book.check it out.

When Razor was 4, his sister was attacked by torlock the echidna.(bad guy)

(then i explained what torlock looked like)

Anyways Razor's sister went into battle with Torlock.She defeated him.But she used up every bit of the sol,chaos emeralds and the world rings power to seal away the evil echidna inside of the Holy Sapphire.She fell down back to gardrados.When Razor found her he picked up the Xstar and it gave him evil in his heart.

Now I dont know if thats a bad background to see how razor got his sword or not but i think its clearily good.

and i actually explained how razor gets his ice powers too =D!

Yeah that is'nt the best back story it could use some fine tunings but why use all the powers of the rings/emeralds at the beginning?(thought that was starnge to me) But anyway my back story needs to be written out and worked on some
moar.

I think that my most complex back story is Splice's. It relates to more characters than you would expect. More than I even expected.

He lost his powers. thats all im gonna say because this is not the FC thread.
