| All personal data has been linked, along with (possibly) credit card numbers. | |

| They only say possibly so people don't panic. What else would the hackers benefit from with this information? Addresses would be a tedious mess, and who cares about trophies and other account information? The numbers give them power, which is what they want. It's just a mask, in fact, I'm sure it's guaranteed they have credit card information, because from first hand experience, there's no extra layer of security for the number as opposed to any other field of identity.
Oh, Sony, you and your luck.

| I'll be the annoying Playstation fanboy
personal data such as usernames, passwords, real names, another crap etc. has been obtained by the hackers. Sony has said when PSN goes live again every user will need to mandatorily change their passwords so I could really care less.
Also for credit cards, they've said the info is always encrypted and blocked by additional security servers, plus your security code is never asked of or saved to the servers.
Oh and you know, Xbox Live was down itself before, it's not like it's invulnerable to this sort of thing.

| They sent an email to every playstation user saying that the hacker's might have gotten personal information
even if you never used a credit card with playstation you got an email
like I said before the credit card data is encrypted, and with 75 + million encrypted credit card numbers I doubt the hackers will even try to care.

| So you're positive they did this out of boredom for gits and shiggles? Good, lemme just post all my personal information here and see if no one cares. | |

| Oh god, anonymous is going to knock on our doors, run.
Anyway, this whole thing is their way of protesting. I don't think these guys have an interest at credit card numbers and such. They're just after Sony because they sued one of their fellow hackers.

| This isn't Anonymous. Anonymous only hacked their websites, they deny having anything to do with PSN.
And Anonymous isn't one to deny their own doings.

| I don't believe they were hacked to begin with. I think Sony had a mishap and they're going out of their way to blame an obvious target and cover their mistake.
That, or some of the employees who got laid off tried their hand at vengeance. Either way, it's not what Sony's expecting you to believe.

Well, if they contacted the FBI to find out who hacked them, wouldn't it get them in more trouble than they already are if the FBI found out that they did something like that? And, wouldn't they try to check out the people they fired beforehand first to make sure?

| Where's their proof that they hired the FBI to begin with? Could just be a scare tactic. | |
